Your Soul is What Makes You, YOU!
Our ability to reason, our emotions, our free-will, are all evidence of the existence of our Soul. Our spiritual soul works in unison with our physical body. Our Soul is the "electricity" that animates our body—brings it to life; allows it to move about, read a book, drive a car, play sports, know and love God.. Our ability to reason, imagine and remember formulates our intelligibility and enables us to think on many complex levels. The evidence of our abilities can be seen in the incredible creations of mankind. This ranges from the tiniest of microprocessors in our cell phones to gigantic rocket ships that can carry human beings to the moon and back. Our intelligibility gives us superiority over all other creatures on the planet. No other creature can conceive, create and operate a computer, an automobile, an airplane, a submarine or space shuttle. Mankind has made millions of inventions throughout history, some of which consist of tens of thousands of moving parts operating in harmony to aid us in our work, and in our play. The superiority of man’s abilities and intelligence is also captured in our exquisite paintings, sculptures, music, dance, literature and films. All these forms of art allow mankind to display his inward imagination outward because he desires to share them with others. Mankind’s intelligibility also allows him to look inside his own mind and body helping him to cure the defects of his mental, physical and spiritual well-being. No other species has ever psycho-analyzed their own species. No other species has built universities to share the knowledge it has accumulated over thousands of years. A chimpanzee has never performed a triple by-pass on a pig so it could gain the medical knowledge of how to perform the same operation on another chimpanzee—and it never will. Why? Because revelation from God has told us that only mankind has "god-like" abilities. The book of Genesis in the Holy Bible tells us that mankind was made in the image and likeness of God: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." 29 And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life…" (Genesis 1:26-30) The essence of God, living in us is how we have god-like abilities. Being made in the "image and likeness" of God (Genesis 1:27) allows us to become the adopted sons and daughters of God. As Jesus said when he quoted Psalm 82, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, you are gods?'" (John 10:34) As the children of God, we have a tremendous responsibility to live up to the honor of being made in God’s image. We all come from royalty. The King of Creation (God) gave us our time on this earth to decide if we want to be part of His Spiritual Kingdom. One day, our Soul will leave our mortal body. Where our Soul will live for eternity is our choice. God banishes no one from His Heavenly Kingdom. We banish ourselves when we choose to live our lives according to our own authority, instead of His... Our body cannot live without our Soul. However, our Soul can live without our mortal body. The purpose of our earthly life is to know and love God and to prepare our Soul for the next life; a life that exists in a spiritual community of like-minded people of good character, integrity, emotional maturity and holiness. Jesus Christ is our role-model for this community. The "community" is called, "Heaven". Any place outside the realm of our good and loving God would be a living Hell—whether it is in this life or in the life to come. What if I Don't Believe I Have a Soul? Despite everything you just read about mankind’s ability to create a multitude of complex machinery and art (and for thousands years) if you still do not believe you have a spiritual influence that gives you god-like abilities (a.k.a.: a Soul), think of this: Evolutionist used to believe that the size of the human brain had a direct correlation with the technological progress we have made over the centuries. The bigger the brain, the more complex our inventions, thus the greater progress of humanity. They argue that man's progress is not from any influence of a "Soul" or Divine Being. Some assume that ancient man must have been primitive in his thinking because he did not surround himself with the type of technology we have today. The truth of the matter is, there is no evidence to suggest that ancient man's average Intelligence Quotient (IQ) was any lower than today's average IQ. The technological capabilities of modern civilization are not the result of man having a bigger brain, but simply the result of one generation passing on the inspiration of their inventions to the next. Simply put, mankind's IQ has not increased over the centuries, just mankind's ability to store and communicate the data that he has collected over the centuries. Man's IQ was just as competent 10,000 years ago as it is today. However, as mankind refined his ability to store and communicate data, he was able to build upon what the previous generations had discovered. Each generation thus built more complex inventions from the same inspiration and reasoning process that occurs in the Mind and Soul of today's modern mind. |

Need more Proof? The brain from a animal can contain the same (if not more) neurons than a human brain. A whale's brain and an elephant's brain are much larger than a human's. So why hasn't the whale or elephant population ever invented anything that can compare to that of the human population?
Neurologist suggest that human beings have billions more neurons in the cerebral cortex region of our brain compared to other creatures. This is their explanation for us being so technically advanced compared to animals. But Neurologist also claim that our personalities, emotions and feelings (i.e., love, hate, jealousy, sense of humor, guilt) are also the result of these billions more neurons. Look at this list of emotions and feelings to see how phenomenally complex we are as human beings when it comes to how we feel. How can the biological "gray matter" of a brain cell produce such a variety of emotions and feelings? Neurons are simply "storage banks" of information just like a "byte" stores information on a computer hard drive. How can digital information contain "emotions" and "feelings?" Also, why is it that the emotions we feel tend to be more centered in our heart and soul and are longer lasting (i.e., love, hate, guilt), whereas, our "feelings" tend to be more centered in our minds and can change instantly depending on external stimuli, or even our own thoughts? A computer with terabytes of memory built into it explains why it is so "intelligent," but the same computer certainly cannot feel happy, sad, nervous, or guilt-ridden to see you in the morning. There is something far more "spiritual" going on in the human mind and soul than just a bunch of neurons giving us a higher intelligence to build cities, rocket ships, micro-chips, or create works of art. Reason suggests that inspiration, emotions and feelings are connected to the human Soul, not just the number of neurons in our cerebral cortex. What is My Soul Made of?What is your Soul made of? The best "stuff" in the universe -- God's Divine and Eternal energy!
We know from science that every human being has "electrical charges" (voltage) pulsating through our brain, nervous system, muscles and organs (see, "Dendrites", and "Voltage Gated Ion-Channel"). This energy can be measured while performing mental and physical activities. Just as radio-waves and micro-waves carry information invisible to the eye (if you don't believe me, just ask yourself where all those sounds and images that download to your cell phone come from...) so does our Soul collect and carry information invisible to the eye. This is why we say in our Nicene Creed, "I believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible..." Albert Einstein proved that energy can neither be created nor destroyed: it can only be transformed from one state to another (see, "Conservation of Energy"). So what happens to the "energy" our body uses to think and move around when our body ceases to function? The Body cannot live without the "Divine spark" of the Soul. Once the body is no longer a suitable "vessel" for the Soul to live with, the Soul leaves the Body. If energy, as Einstein theorized is transformed from one state to another, then the energy of our Soul must travel somewhere. Where it travels is up to us! If we choose to live by God's rules and teachings and are formed more and more into His Image and Likeness, then our Soul gets to spend eternity in His Heavenly Kingdom with all the other Souls who chose to do the same. However, if we choose not to live by all of God's Commands and Wisdom, and don't care about becoming the best person possible (a person just like His Son, Jesus Christ), then God will respect our decision and not force us to become a citizen of Heaven. Why? Because God knows that we if we don't want to live according to His Commands and Wisdom for the very short time we are here on earth, we certainly won't want to live by them for all eternity! This is why God condemns no one to Hell; we condemn ourselves by saying, "No" to our Creator... |
